Pam‘s Ponderings:

You know, we teach our babies – up to age 5 or 6 to share, be kind, hug others, etc. But it seems that once they are taller – age 7 or 8 and on…we seem to stop or slow down teaching and reminding and modeling those behaviors. We start shaming – telling them that they “should” know better, etc.

Seems that once they are tall enough to reach this or that, dress themselves, etc…we expect them to self-care. They are STILL learning from us – whether we agree with this or not. So many teens are angry and lonely – they lash out and bully, despite all the teachings in school about not bullying. ADULTS…don’t get me started! I see so many adults behaving badly. Makes me wonder what THEY were taught and by whom.

Hate and bigotry are learned traits. Babies do NOT see this stuff when they interact with other babies. They naturally love each other and are curious about one another. Maybe we “taller” beings should learn from them instead of teaching them the horrors and fears that we have learned and live with.

Love each other…even if someone seems not to be deserving…many times those are the ones who need it the most!!!!
