When you send a friend request (FR) to others, are you ONLY looking for sales and recruits? If you are, then you will most likely tank.

People DO NOT want to be sold to. There are enough commercials in the universe already. EVERYWHERE! Some commercials are fun to watch and we CHOOSE to watch them, but when we have info THROWN at us, unrequested, it is annoying. People CRAVE relationships. They crave others to engage and connect with them. In time, people MIGHT buy what you are selling; but not right away.

When shopping for a car or looking for a house, I go to the dealership or visit homes for sale – they don’t come to me….when I meet the salesperson, he/she already knows that I am looking to buy (they know that by virtue of my presence there)…but he/she STILL asks me questions, gets to know WHAT I like, what I am looking for; MY NEEDS. Network marketers do not have this advantage. We talk to people in THEIR environment…so we HAVE TO ask questions to see where they are, what their likes/dislikes are…if they have a consumer need that we may be able to solve.

People are skeptical…we have evolved into this state of mind because of all the BS, lies, and scammers out there – not just online and in network marketing, but everywhere. People are PEOPLE…they are NOT numbers in your biz….they are not money.

My “line in the sand”:
If you want to send me a FR, please tell me WHY you want to become friends. Introduce yourself. Tell me what drew you to my page. From now on, I think I will only accept FRs that are accompanied by a message of introduction. And STOP with the thumbs-up symbols…use your words. We’re all busy but at the same time we all want to feel that we matter…thumbs-up doesn’t tell me that I matter…at least NOT in the very beginning.  In the beginning it tells me that I am a number to you…that you do not have a genuine interest in knowing me.

I think I’m pretty cool and fun to know, but I am not fun to “sell” to if we don’t have a connection…and I mean more than a “hi”. I love meeting new people. I don’t care if you are a network marketer or not…peoplehello-friend_0 ROCK! But if you are a network marketer, PLEASE use your people skills…get to know me before you vomit your business all over me.
