I wrote and published this short piece in 2016 as a Facebook post. I took this picture while on vacation in Virginia Beach in 2014 or 2015. I saw this ‘weed’ growing through a crack in the asphalt. It symbolized to me that no matter what, we must carry on pushing forth, growing through the pain and struggles.

There are bad people out there. It’s almost a guarantee that you will encounter at the very least 1-2 of them in your lifetime, most likely many more. Do not allow their poor choices to alter your heart. Stay true to your heart. Trust in God. He will not allow your destruction if you trust and believe in Him. He won’t wave a magic wand, but He will provide the way for you to avoid the pitfalls – if you just trust in Him.
Do not allow the hurts thrust upon you by the world and/or forces beyond your control to harden your heart. A hard heart is one that doesn’t experience joy; one that misses out on the simple smiles of life. Do not allow this to happen to you. Keep your smile. Keep your faith. Move forward with positivity and truth.
